Development Plans Unveiled at Informational Meeting

The Daphne Industrial Development Board hosted an informational meeting on Tuesday, July 30, to showcase 68 Ventures' plan for a dynamic mixed-use development on a 50-plus acre site off U.S. Highway 181, known as the Daphne Innovation and Science Complex (DISC).

The development will feature 120,000 sq. ft. of office space for Novelis, a hotel, vibrant retail stores, inviting restaurants, townhomes, modern apartments, greenspaces, and scenic tree-lined sidewalks.

Designed to foster a walkable, mixed-use town center that seamlessly blends work and living spaces, the project promises to transform the area into a hub of activity.

Cameron Thatcher of 68 Ventures highlighted the unique and innovative nature of the project, while architect Louis Nequette emphasized the growing trend towards neighborhood business districts.

Lee Lawson of the Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance confirmed Novelis' commitment to occupy office space by 2026, a testament to the project's potential.

Casey Williams, CEO and President of the Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce commented that “This type of development helps attract and retain young professionals. It represents an opportunity for community success, contributing to the healthy growth of the Eastern Shore."
