Mobile Airport Authority Receives $7.5 Million Grant Federal Funding to Support New Terminal at
Mobile International Airport

MOBILE, Ala. (August 15, 2024) – The Mobile Airport Authority is excited to announce that it has been awarded $7,510,599 through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) Airport Infrastructure Grant (AIG) program. These funds will directly support the ongoing development of the new terminal at Mobile International Airport (BFM).

”This funding is a significant boost for the Mobile International Airport project,” said Mobile Airport Authority Chairman, Elliot Maisel. ”It’s an important step in ensuring that our airport continues to grow and serve Mobile and Baldwin Counties effectively. We’re grateful for the support and eager to continue our work on this vital infrastructure.”

These investments are part of MAA’s broader strategy to enhance infrastructure, prepare for future demand, and support economic growth in Mobile and the surrounding areas. Construction for a new terminal and parking garage at BFM is underway, with an anticipated completion in July 2025, coinciding with the relocation of all commercial air traffic in November 2025. Breeze Airways provides nonstop service to Orlando and BreezeThru service to Providence, RI, from BFM.

The airport proudly houses the Airbus Final Assembly Line, Airbus Engineering, ST Aerospace, and Continental Motors, showcasing its prominence in the aviation industry. The Brookley Aeroplex, a thriving industrial complex, supports BFM’s operations, accommodating more than ninety businesses, including supply chain providers and others supporting the transportation industry. St. Elmo Airport is located about eighteen miles from the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley, primarily caters to corporate and private aircraft needs.
