Dragonfly Foodbar Ribbon Cutting

The Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce celebrated the new location of longtime member, Dragonfly Foodbar, with a ribbon cutting! The popular Fairhope restaurant relocated to 18874 Section St. in Fairhope, AL earlier this year.

We asked Brie Kerr to tell us a little bit about the history of Dragonfly Foodbar. She says, "When we found out I was pregnant in 2010, Doug started bringing tortillas to the dinner table. The combinations he thought of were definitely new to me. We began looking for a space to serve this inspired food."

"Our first location opened September 28, 2010 at 319 Fairhope Ave (where Sage is now) just two weeks before our daughter arrived. We only had 26 bar seats and a tiny window for food to come out from the kitchen. You could hear Doug yelling food was up from the street. After the first few weeks, we started $2 Taco Tuesdays. Our business started to grow. People began to form a line down the sidewalks on busy nights. Four years later as people fussed about not being able to ever find a seat, we moved to a bigger location on Church St downtown. Our business would eventually grow to fill that space as well."

"We enjoyed Church St. and made our little corner feel like home to us and so many amazing guests. But all good things must come to an end, right? I'm glad we didn't! We had to move locations again and reopened in just less than 3 months. It was incredibly stressful and testing but so worth it now!"

"Everyone seems to have already fallen in love with our new spot at 18874 Section St."

"Our cuisine is what most would call a sort of global fusion. The menu combines ingredient combos that only your tastebuds understand. From Southern fried Pork Skins with Mexi-Texi Queso to Seared Tuna Tacos with Jalapenos and Edamame to the famous Turnip Fries. We also offer Asian inspired rice and noodle bowls. For those with less adventurous tastebuds we even have a Smashburger off our woodburning grill served with Tater Logs and house-made sauces."

"We run daily specials that are inspired by Doug and our amazing team of "taco ninjas" running the kitchen. We also have a full bar and hand-crafted cocktails that rotate and evolve with the seasons. We have an amazing work crew that feels more like family than employees. Several on the schedule have been there 7, 8, 9 years. I know the food is amazing but what I think makes the restaurant truly special and unforgettable is the people working."
