On Saturday, March 11 th at 9 AM* the Park welcomes Dr. Ramie Gougeon, Assistant Professor of Anthropology at the University of West Florida, for a discussion of the Native Americans which called its grounds home over 2,000 years ago. An expert in the Woodland time period (ca. 1,0000 BC to ca. 1,000 AD), Dr. Gougeon is author of several articles on the culture and environment of the peoples of that era, and has conducted numerous archaeological investigations of Woodland occupation sites. Dr. Gougeon will speak at the Wehle Center, and afterward lead a short walking tour exploring the environment in which Blakeley's “first residents” lived. The lecture is complimentary with regular park admission of $4 for adults and $3 for children ages 6-12 and FREE to those who attend the March 9 th lecture at the Spanish Fort Public Library and those taking our 10:30 AM Nature Cruise.
