SUMMARY:The Longest Night - a service of light amid darkness
DESCRIPTION:We are not all in a mood to celebrate this year. If you or someone you know are dealing with the death of a loved one\, facing life after divorce or separation\, coping with the loss of a job\, living with cancer or some other disease\, or coping with a number of other situations that make parties and joviality painful\, there is a growing attentiveness to the needs of people who are blue at Christmas. For those suffering dark times now\, Fairhope Christian Church invites you to join us Tuesday\, Dec. 21 at 4 pm for a special service of reflection\, acceptance\, and offering healing and hope during these normally happy and celebratory days of Christmas.\n\n\n\nMany churches now hold a service of worship on the longest night of the year\, which falls on or about December 21st\, the Winter Solstice. This is also the traditional religious feast day of Saint Thomas the Apostle\, whose struggle to believe the tale of Jesus' resurrection\, is paired with the long nights just before Christmas\, and the struggle with darkness and grief faced by those living with loss.\n\n\n\nFollowing the past couple of years of loss of many of our friends\, family members\, as well as members of our congregations\, Fairhope Christian Church will hold our Service of the Longest Night on Tues.\, Dec. 21\, at 4 pm. Please join us if you are living through dark times now\, and in need of comfort.
